Homemade Peanut Butter

Transfer your homemade peanut butter to a clean, airtight jar or container. Store it in the fridge for up to 2-3 weeks. It may thicken slightly in the fridge, but you can stir it to bring it back to a smooth consistency.

Homemade Peanut Butter

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups raw unsalted peanuts
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt (optional, to taste)

Instructions:

  1. Roast the Peanuts:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • Spread the raw peanuts in a single layer on a baking sheet.
    • Roast the peanuts for 10-12 minutes, or until they are golden brown and fragrant. Stir halfway through to ensure even roasting.
    • Once roasted, remove them from the oven and allow them to cool slightly. You can leave the skins on for added texture or remove them for a smoother peanut butter.
  2. Blend the Peanuts:
    • Once the peanuts have cooled, transfer them to a food processor or high-powered blender.
    • Pulse for about 30 seconds to break the peanuts into smaller pieces.
  3. Process the Peanuts:
    • Continue processing for a few minutes. The peanuts will first turn into a crumbly mixture, but as you keep blending, the natural oils from the peanuts will be released, and the mixture will turn into a smooth, creamy peanut butter.
  4. Add Salt:
    • Once the peanut butter reaches the desired smoothness, add sea salt to taste, and blend until fully incorporated.
  5. Taste and Adjust:
    • Taste your peanut butter and adjust the salt to your liking. If you prefer a creamier texture, continue blending for another minute or so.
  6. Store and Enjoy:
    • Transfer your homemade peanut butter to a clean, airtight jar or container. Store it in the fridge for up to 2-3 weeks. It may thicken slightly in the fridge, but you can stir it to bring it back to a smooth consistency.

Ways to Enjoy Your Homemade Peanut Butter:

  • On Toast: Spread a generous layer of peanut butter on a warm slice of toast. Top with sliced banana, blueberries, or strawberries for a fresh, fruity twist. For extra flavor, sprinkle with cinnamon, nutmeg, or ground flax seeds. It’s a quick, delicious breakfast or snack!
  • With Apple Slices: My personal favourite is to enjoy this peanut butter as a snack with crunchy apple slices. The sweetness of the apples pairs perfectly with the rich, creamy peanut butter. For an extra boost, sprinkle the apple slices with cinnamon or even a few chia seeds.
  • In Smoothies: Add a spoonful of peanut butter to your smoothies for extra creaminess and a dose of healthy fats. It pairs well with banana, chocolate, or even berries!
  • On Oatmeal: Stir a spoonful of peanut butter into your oatmeal for a rich, nutty flavours. Top with fruits like sliced bananas or berries, and add a sprinkle of chia seeds for extra fiber.

Tips & Variations:

  • Chunky Peanut Butter: If you prefer chunky peanut butter, reserve a small handful of peanuts and pulse them in at the end of blending for added texture.
  • Roasting Tips: You can roast the peanuts a little longer if you want a deeper flavor, but be careful not to burn them. Keep an eye on them in the final few minutes.

Flavour Variations: Add a pinch of cinnamon, vanilla extract, or even a dash of cocoa powder for a different flavours profile.
